Release of My Brother The Devil

Researching things related to My Brother The Devil was fa more tricky than Skyfall clearly because it is an urban British movie where as Skyfall is 'James bond' Hollywood movie which will obviously attract a world wide audience.

My Brother The Devil has already won reviews at the sundance festivals where El Hosanini was awarded the worldview Impact and World cinematography Awards and also in Berlin where the film picked up the prize for 'Best European Film from the Europe cinemas label network. El Hosaini was most recently the recipient of the Best British Newcomer award at the London Film Festival 2012, the film having been nominated for an impressive three awards.

The director of the film My Brother The Devil is Sally El Hosaini who started working on her film after the 7/7 bombings occurred. The filming of the movie began in summer 2011 in East London Hackney  mostly around the Gascoigne estate. - As thousands were rioting

"Riots broke out in Hackney the day we did our camera tests," said El Hosaini.
"The riots meant there was a ban on shooting any exterior scenes with fights with youths and guns or knives. In all of London throughout the shoot! That prompted some quick rewrites.
This meant they had to relocate themselves for a short amount of time and were forced to work in Wimbledon on a studio set that looked like "a quaint county village"

Below is a link to a video of the director herself talking about her film, what drived her to write an Urban movie of youths growing up on a concil estate in hackney as many movie like these have already been done and alot of urban films are laughed at now.

Screening at Mile End genesis followed by Q & A with Sally El Hosaini, James Floyd and Fady Elsayed! What a great way to attract people to Genesis and to watch the film!

The street hype begins. It is an Honour to have our old unofficial poster bootlegged in a store in Angel Islington, way before the campaign has started. (4th September 2012)
